3 Lessons Learned

I spent a couple hours after work yesterday just hanging outside in the yard with my sons.
During this time I learned a few things...

  1. Ethan has found his groove throwing a baseball. He's stinging my hand through my glove when I catch it now. I'm glad he can throw better at 8 than I could at 37.*
  2. Putting training wheels on a bike is harder than it looks. I accidentally backed over Gavin's bike yesterday, breaking a training wheel in the process. So I put a new set on. Apparently I didn't quite do it right because I got them on, said "Here you go Gavin", then walked away. Before I got very far I heard him yelling "Hey! Hey! What's going on here?" I turned to see the back tire of his bike 1 inch off the ground and him just pedaling as hard as he could without going anywhere. I couldn't help but laugh.
  3. It don't matter how long we stay outside, it's not long enough. When I say "Come on guys. Let's head inside." it doesn't matter if we've been out there for 1 hour or 5 hours, they still aren't ready. Honestly, I'm glad. I know there will come a day, sooner than I'd like, when they won't want to play with me. So I'm trying to enjoy every minute.

What do you do with your kids, or friends, or kids friends, to enjoy every minute?

* I am 37 now.

    1. Spending time with family and friends is so important. Every week my wife, new born baby, and I have a movie and dinner night. It's a great way to connect and spend time with each other.

    2. Movie nights are great. I have two young boys though, so it usually turns into "wrestle night" at some point. =)
